This past week was very packed but I feel like Wednesday was the most important day, we had one of the major Independent Study Mentorship events, Business Symposium. The event began with a networking session where we were able to talk to local professionals to gather information, and connect with people in various companies. After the networking session we went through 3 interviews with 3 random professionals to improve our interview skills and our professionalism. I looked forward to the interview session and to answering those “curveball” questions but also getting important pointers on how to improve my interview skills. My 3 interviews were each with people who had different backgrounds which gave me good practice on communicating with people with different skillsets. After the interviews there was a small presentation given by ISM alumni, where they emphasized the importance of networking and gave us tips on how to make the most of our time in ISM. We then had a presentation about how we are the CEO of our lives, and in the end we decide what happens to us. Overall the event was extremely helpful with improving my professionalism and interview skills. Also later this week, after business symposium, I scheduled my second interview! I can’t wait to go out and learn more about technology, its impact on the world, and how I can be a part of that impact!
